D. E. Shaw Research ("DESRES") is an independent research laboratory that conducts basic scientific research in the field of computational biochemistry under the direct scientific leadership of Dr. David Shaw, who serves as its Chief Scientist.
Martin Deneroff is currently involved in the implementation and deployment of Anton, a specialized, massively parallel supercomputer designed to execute MD simulations hundreds of times faster than has been possible to date. When it becomes operational (around the end of 2008, according to our current projections), we are hopeful that Anton will allow scientists to observe, for example, the structural changes in proteins that underlie important biological phenomena occurring on time scales far in excess of those that have thus far been computationally accessible.
“At 90 nanometers and below, silicon virtual prototyping by the architect and logic designer becomes key to closing timing, area and power in a predictable way. Unfortunately, most tools for this purpose require operation by a backend expert, and cannot react quickly enough to the exploratory variations needed in early design. Javelin addresses this need with a fast, flexible, and accurate prototyping system that can be easily operated by the logic designer, earlier in the design phase, minimizing issues that would become costly if addressed further downstream and late in the flow. Javelin’s j360™ improves development time and schedule predictability, with shorter schedules and higher quality designs.” Martin Deneroff.
